Alhumdulillah, the ISSM Career Workshops for sisters took place on Saturday 2nd February 2008 at the Birmingham Central Mosque.
Sisters attended from a number of schools and colleges across Birmingham; and not only sisters but also a number of mothers attended with their daughters making a valuable contribution to the interesting and amusing discussions throughout the day, Masha’Allah.

May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala reward all those who contributed directly or indirectly in making this day a memorable one, Ameen Thum Ameen.

A few comments from our feedback forms and email:

‘I wish to thank you for setting up the careers workshop. My daughter and I found it extremely helpful in terms of her applying to university. We will be taking on board many of the hints and tips provided by the sisters. I would also like to thank you for taking out time from your busy schedules and advising many of the young girls who chose to attend. Again many thanks.’
[Comments from a mother who attended with her daughter]

‘A great event, Masha’Allah.’

‘Well done on executing such a valuable and beneficial event.  The best thing about this event was how each presentation was tailored to Islam, and how each profession was dissected to teach us the benefits and drawbacks as Muslim women.  This was a much needed day, May Allah reward you.’

‘A fantastic idea, please keep doing more of these careers events, we need them.’

‘This was a very enjoyable day, the speakers were very approachable, and I could ask questions relating to Islam and working which I wouldn’t feel comfortable asking in a non-muslim career’s event – Thank you.’

If you missed this event, but would like advice or information about careers – do not despair! – we are due to start a Careers Advice Service for Sisters on our website in the very near future.  Keep visiting our website for updates, insha’Allah.
