After a month's absence, the ISSM writers are back with their stimulating articles. Firstly, we must apologise for not updating during Ramadhan. The plan was to have a Ramadhan special, but things became intense as the Ibadah (worship) increased and the Freshers preparations were added to the hectic mix.

This month's newsletter coincides with the beginning of the Blessed month of Sha'baan, the month preceding the even more Blessed month of Ramadhan.
In addition, we also have the greatest of Imams, Abu Hanifa Rahimahullah giving some general advice. Imam Ibn Sirin Rahimahulla, a Tabi'i, said regarding Imam Abu Hanifa, that he is the man who would put the Quran and the Sunnah in its order, and another great Imam, Abdullah ibn Mubarak Rahimahullah said that there was no one more knowledgeable, more pious or more profuse in their worship in his place than Abu Hanifa Rahimahullah.

Tackling the question of what suffering is actually taking place, the writer draws upon evidence and reportings found within the media. As a bonus, the virtues and significance of the area of Palestine and, more importantly of the al-Aqsa Masjid, is also added.

It was agreed by the ISSM staff not to release it on April 1st in order to avoid any connotation about April Fools day. This is for a number of reasons. The first is the historical reference which alludes to the fact that the day originates from the making of fools of the Muslims, and the coming of the end of Islamic rule in Spain. So, obviously the Muslims should not be celebrating it by making fools out of each other, because there is quite possibly a tragic side to it for the Muslims. However, this is debatable and needs some serious verification.
Other reasons include that it possibly originates from pagan belief and in any case imitating festivals of non Muslims is not right...
The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam said, "Whoever imitates a people is one of them." (Abu Dawud, Ahmad, Bukhari, Tabarani, Bazzar)
So avoid!!!
