ISSM is appalled at the treatment of the Pakistani students who were arrested in dramatic fashion and sensationalised after by the terror inducing media despite the clear want of evidence. ISSM would like to firmly emphasise that these students are victims of the policy to doctor terror in order to forward their draconian national and foreign policies without the attention and accountability before the public. These students have been released without charge. They are innocent. However the government is still punishing them for a crime they have not committed: it has decided to deport them without reason to give the police a cover for their baseless antics.
ISSM calls upon the NUS, FOSIS and all other student bodies to support these international students and uphold their universal right to education.
ISSM calls upon the media to be more reponsible in its reporting and to stop smear campaigns against Muslims based on non-existent evidence.
ISSM calls upon the executive to not overstep their mark by taking upon the role of judiciary and observe the principle of separation of powers.
